
Lyn Farmer is Director of Special Events for Regent Seven Seas Cruises (formerly Radisson Seven Seas Cruises). In this capacity he develops special thematic programs on a variety of topics including antiques, music and food and wine. He is the luxury cruise line’s entertainment coordinator and plays a significant role in developing and implementing the company’s food and wine program on board its luxury cruise ships and, more recently, in the growing Regent Hotel chain.
In addition to his work at Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Farmer is Senior Editor of The Wine News magazine and a widely regarded authority on spirits and wine. In 2004 he was honored with the James Beard Award for best wine and spirits writing of the year, the most prestigious prize in food and wine journalism in the United States. He was nominated for a second Beard Award in 2005. Lyn is also senior restaurant critic of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel newspaper covering the South Florida dining scene from Miami to Palm Beach. He is also Director of the Miami Wine and Food Festival which each year nets more than $1 million for its two participating charities, United Way of Miami-Dade and Camillus House.
Lyn Farmer is a passionate music lover and teacher and was for many years program director of WTMI-FM, South Florida’s fine arts radio station prior to its format change in 2000. He has taught music appreciation at the University of Miami and at Florida International University. He began his professional career as a Foreign Service officer specializing in cultural affairs with the United States Information Agency and Voice of America. Lyn lives in Miami.
